PM Gilani returns home from China; terms his visit highly productive, successful
ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani who returned here on Saturday from China, termed his visit as highly productive and successful, further strengthening Pakistan-China multifaceted relations in all fields of common interests. It was a great honour and privilege for the prime minister to participate in the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics and joining the world leaders in the magnificent event. The Prime Minister was received at the Chaklala Airbase by federal ministers, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Tariq Majeed, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui and senior officials.
In a brief chat with the newsmen at the Chaklala Airbase, the Prime Minister said he availed the opportunity to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao who, he said, assured greater cooperation with the elected government in Pakistan to carry forward the existing warm and cordial relations.
The Chinese Premier, he said, reiterated to maintain their time-tested and all-weather friendship both at government and people-to-people levels. Prime Minister Gilani said, the Chinese Premier invited him to attend the ASEM Summit in October this year and on a bilateral visit to China, preceding the Summit meeting. “Certainly I will go to China to have further talks with the Chinese leadership for reinforcing the long-term strategic partnership”, he added.
The Prime Minister also referred to his meetings with the Chinese companies who, he said, assured him to make further investments in Pakistan for promoting mutual benefits. Gilani said he invited the Chinese companies to undertake corporate projects in Pakistan in the fields like energy, agriculture and telecommunication.
To a question, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan and China will continue to work together for meeting various challenges at regional and international levels.
