Bilawal vows further strengthening of Pakistan, China relations







BEIJING :Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said here Friday that he would work to further enhance and cement Pakistan-China relations and carry forward these bonds to a new height. He stated this during a meeting with Minister of International Department of Communist Party of China (CPC) Wang Jiarui.
Bilawal said founding Chairman of PPP Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of Pak-China friendship and his mother Shaheed Benazir Bhutto further cemented these ties.
“Not only at the Government to Government level, but I would also work to strengthen our relations at party to party level,” Bilawal said.
He thanked the CPC for inviting him to attend the opening ceremony of the 29th Olympiad here Beijing.
Bilawal expressed compliments on behalf of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and informed Minister Wang that due to his father’s pressing engagements he could not visit China but he wants to come to this great country in the near future.
The PPP chairman extended an invitation to minister Wang to visit Pakistan and thanked the minister for the excellent hospitality extended to him and members of his delegation.
The PPP chairman said that he is very impressed with the progress and development achieved by China, adding that through party-to-party contacts he would like to get further details about the experience China has gained in developing all areas.
He said that as a student he found it inspiring to see the rapid development in China and expressed the hope that one day China will stand along the other super power of the world.
On the occasion, the Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik, briefed minister Wang Jiarui on steps taken by the present government to curb the menace of terrorism.
He said that acts of terrorism are adversely affecting the economy of the country and informed the host of measures taken for the security of Chinese working in Pakistan.
Rehman Malik said that Pakistan would continue to cooperate with China in all areas including fight against terrorism.
Secretary General of PPP Jahangir Badar on behalf of Senator Asif Ali Zardari and on behalf of PPP congratulated the CPC for successful holding of the Beijing Olympics.
PPP strongly desires to expand its relations with the CPC?, he said and expressed the hope that in the near future both the parties would exchange delegation level visits.
Speaking on the occasion, Wang thanked Bilawal Zardari Bhutto for visiting China and said that people of China consider all segments of Pakistani society and political parties their close friends.
He said that whatever people of Pakistan decide about their leadership, the people of China would fully respect their decisions.
The minister said that he believes that whatever political parties rule Pakistan, it would continue to pursue friendly relations with China and carry forward these ties to new heights.
Wang said he was delighted that Bilawal Bhutto has visited China in his first appearance at international forum and that demonstrates the depth of Sino-Pak relations.
