Militants attack security check post, cop killed: SMC
Pro-Taliban militants loyal to Maulana Fazalullah attacked on the security check post at Kalakot in troubled Matta Tehsil, killing one security personnel on the spot, a spokesman of Swat Media Centre said Sunday.
The Spokesman while confirming the incident said that a group of armed militants equipped with heavy weaponry and automatic machine guns, launched an armed assault on the security check post at Kalakot that was retaliated. As result of heavy firing continued for sometime, he said that Havaldar Khalil was martyred while the security forces successfully repulsed the attack.
In yet another incident, the armed militants stormed another security check-post at restive Guli Bagh around 3am last night, however no casualty has been reported after attack was repulsed by the security forces, officials said.
Meanwhile, curfew was relaxed between Khawzakhela and Landaki from 7am to 7pm on Sunday. During this period, people thronged to vegetable markets and retailers shops and purchased daily use items besides inquiring about health of their relatives.
Meanwhile, the security forces pounded hideouts of militants with artillery and gunship helicopters at the mountains of troubled Khawzakhela, Matta, Charbagh and Kabal, however no casualty has been reported.
The miscreants set on fire five more girls schools and office of agriculture project at Tehsil Charbagh on Sunday, police sources said.
They burnt Girls Middle and Primary Schools Taligram, Girls Primary School Sair, Gilrs Primary School Gulibagh and Girls School Malama Jabba after throwing oil on them.
Likewise, in Malam Jabba, an office of Agriculture Project was also set ablaze by unknown miscreants, destroying furniture and other goods worth thousands of rupees, police said.
