Zardari concerned over manhandling of Senator Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: PPP co-chairman Senator Asif Ali Zardari has expressed grave concern over manhandling of Senator Safdar Abbasi by the personnel of law enforcing agencies in NAB court Rawalpindi. Senator Safdar Abbasi had accompanied his cousin Sikandar Abbasi, an employee of the CDA in the NAB Court where a case against Sikandar was pending. Earlier, Sikandar Abbasi had secured bail from Islamabad High Court forbidding the law enforcement agencies of arresting him until he had appeared before the NAB Court, says a press release issued by a PPP spokesman.
The case against Sikandar Abbasi was quashed at the NAB Court, however, as Sikandar and Safdar Abbasi accompanied by the defence council Senator Dr. Babar Awan came out of the court the NAB officials arrested Sikandar Abbasi and sent to Adiyala Jail.
The defence council Dr. Babar Awan and Safdar Abbasi demanded to show arrest warrants but the law enforcing agencies personnel refused and Safdar Abbasi was manhandled, it added.
PPP co-chairman, in a statement, said it was a matter of concern that the law enforcing agencies made arrests without warrant. He expressed the hope that an inquiry will be held in the incident and justice be done.
